Kharkov metro plan

On August 23, 1975 the first eight-station segment of 10.4 kilometres was put into use in Kharkov.
Nowadays, there are 3 lines, 28 stations, and 35.4 kilometres of tracks of the Kharkov Metro. Three radial lines cross in the city centre. Kharkov Metro is opened from 5:30 in the morning till 24:00. Daily over one million passengers use it.
As the city has uneven landscape, the metro stations are situated on varying depths. Six of the system's 28 stations are located deep underground. Of the former, all but one are pylon type, and the latter are of column type. The shallow stations compromise fourteen pillar-trispans and eight single vaults. Kharkiv was the first metro to exhibit the single vault design of the shallow type.
All of the platforms are exactly 100 metres long. The metro in Kharkov is served by two depots. These depots have a total of 320 carriages forming 59 five-carriage trains.
The metro is subordinate to the Ministry of Transport of Ukraine and is not privatised and owned by a municipal company. The Ministry proposed to transfer the metro to the city administration in August of 2005.
The fare is 0.75 copeck. The passengers can also use magnetic cards, which they buy in a pay desk.
